Guide

An EditThisCookie alternative that also saves your logins.

Manifest V2 extensions are being phased out of Chrome, and many people are re-checking which cookie tool they trust. JarFlip is a full cookie editor first — then adds jars, so switching test accounts takes one click.

Move over in two minutes

  1. Export from your current extension. In EditThisCookie, use its export button — it copies your cookies as JSON to the clipboard. Cookie-Editor can export JSON too.
  2. Install JarFlip and open it on the same site. Allow the site when asked.
  3. Import. In the popup choose Import, paste the JSON or drop the file. JarFlip detects the format, shows what it will write, and lists anything it can’t import and why.
  4. Save it as a jar. Press Save jar, name it (“Admin”), and you can flip back to this login any time.

Why people switch

  • They want an editor that doesn’t need “all websites” access just to be installed.
  • They test with several accounts and are tired of logging in and out.
  • They want to hand a login to a teammate, or to a test suite, without a screenshot of a token.

Questions

Will my EditThisCookie export import cleanly?+

JarFlip auto-detects the EditThisCookie and Cookie-Editor JSON formats. Cookies it can’t import (for example a malformed domain) are listed with the reason instead of being dropped silently.

Is JarFlip affiliated with EditThisCookie?+

No. JarFlip is an independent project by PointerApps. “EditThisCookie” is the name of another extension; we mention it only so you can find the import steps.

Does JarFlip need access to all websites?+

No. Nothing is granted at install. You allow each site the first time you use JarFlip on it, and can revoke it later from the dashboard.
